Prof. Yong-Fei Zheng, is a distinguished geochemist and Chair Professor at the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC), Hefei. He completed his undergraduate studies at Nanjing University in 1982 and earned his Dr. rer. nat. in 1991 from the University of Goettingen, Germany, followed by postdoctoral research at the University of Tuebingen, Germany, during 1991–1993. He served as Professor of Geochemistry from 1995 to 2004 and has been a Chair Professor since 2005 at USTC, where he also directs the Key Laboratory of Crust-Mantle Materials and Environments, Chinese Academy of Sciences. His research expertise lies in isotope geochemistry and chemical geodynamics, with a focus on Earth system science of convergent plate margins, including processes of metamorphism, magmatism, plate subduction, continental collision, fluid activity, and element mobility. Prof. Zheng is highly skilled in the application of stable and radiogenic isotopes to understand petrological and geochemical processes at plate margins.
