Professor | University of Petroleum and Energy Studies| India

Prof. Dr. Bhawna Yadav Lamba, currently serving as Professor of Chemistry at the University of Petroleum and Energy Studies (UPES), Dehradun, is an accomplished academic and researcher whose expertise lies in sustainable energy and environmental chemistry, with specific focus on biofuels, wastewater management, and plastic waste valorization. She earned her Ph.D. in Chemistry from H.N.B. Garhwal University in 2010, following a Master’s in Polymer Technology from Delhi College of Engineering (2004), an M.Sc. in Organic Chemistry (2000), and a B.Sc. in Chemistry, Botany, and Zoology from DAV (PG) College, Dehradun (1998). With more than two decades of teaching and research experience at UPES since 2004, she has developed and delivered courses in Chemistry, Polymer Materials, and Applied Sciences while mentoring students and training industry professionals. Her research interests include biodiesel preparation and optimization, microalgae-mediated wastewater reclamation coupled with bio-oil and biogas production, and conversion of plastic waste—including municipal plastics and COVID-19 PPE—into alternative fuels such as Plasto-oil. Skilled in experimental chemistry, analytical techniques, interdisciplinary collaborations, and advanced computational approaches, she has contributed to high-impact publications in globally recognized journals such as Journal of Analytical and Applied Pyrolysis, International Journal of Hydrogen Energy, Journal of Materials Chemistry A, and Food Chemistry, with her work widely indexed in Scopus, IEEE, and other reputed platforms. Dr. Lamba’s outstanding contributions have been recognized through numerous awards, including the S.R. Bhatnagar Memorial Research Award (2023–24), Young Scientist Award (2023), IGEN Women Achiever Award (2021), and multiple Best Paper and R&D recognitions, along with consistent acknowledgment as an inspiring teacher. Beyond academia, she has coordinated CSR initiatives like Abhilasha, reinforcing her commitment to community development. With her strong academic foundation, impactful research outputs, and international collaborations, Prof. Lamba continues to advance sustainability, environmental resilience, and green chemistry, making her a deserving candidate for recognition and a role model for future scientific leadership.
