🎓 Education

Fan Bai earned his PhD in Paleontology and Stratigraphy from the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences in Beijing, China, under the supervision of Dr. Qiaomei Fu. His dissertation focused on nuclear genetics research of the Ngari population in the western Tibetan Plateau from 3,500 to 150 years before present. Prior to this, he completed his BS in Biology from Lanzhou University in Lanzhou, China, where he laid the groundwork for his future research endeavors.

💼 Experience

Fan Bai has been a key member of the Qiaomei Fu Lab at the Institute of Vertebrate Paleontology and Paleoanthropology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, since 2018. His work has centered on the evolutionary genetics and population genetics of ancient East Asians, specifically investigating the evolutionary history of populations in the Tibetan Plateau and southern East Asia. His expertise includes the use of advanced computational tools and programming languages to analyze genetic data.

🔬 Research Interests

Fan Bai’s research interests encompass human migration and adaptive evolution, as well as the development of computational genomic tools and pipelines. His work aims to unravel the complex genetic history of human populations in East Asia, contributing valuable insights into ancient human interactions and migrations.
